- They are basically similar to the Bengal Statements, especially after 1800 - Madras GO of 6 June 1800 esstablished uniformity between the military books of the two Presidencies. The costs of the Madras Establishment, however, are calculated in star pagodas until 1819 and subsequently in Madras rupees. Like the Bengal series, in addition to the main detailed statements of all the expenses in all branches, there are covering letters from the Madras Military Auditor-General to the Governor-General, General Abstracts, Comparative Statements and appendices in each volume. Thre are indexes to the main statements from 1837. The volumes also contain the following separate returns: expenses incurred by HM forces on the Madras Establishment from 1795; extra charges (eg overseas establishments, foreign service campaigns) 1796-1839; staff appointments from 1803; the Nizam's forces 1795-1817; the Hyderabad Contingent 1804-1817; native pensioners 1809-1838; officers receiving pensions for limbs lost in battle 1818-1838; officers receiving Civil Department allowances from 1843; charges on the Military Establishment on account of the Civil Department or the other Presidencies from 1846. The volume for 1797 is missing.
