Mainly typewritten and printed with some autograph material. Contains literary criticism of Hughes's work, which was sent to him by academics and scholars, some with accompanying letters. Material is arranged alphabetically by author as follows - 'Casualties of War', 'The Nature of the Goddess: Ted Hughes and Robert Graves' by Nick Gammage (21ff.); 'Our Rugged, Tender Bard: on the poetry of Ted Hughes' by Thomas Jones (published in Urthona, issue 6) (1 volume); 'Shakespeare's Histories and the Great Goddess: Can Ted Hughes's Shakespearean Theory be Applied to the Lancastrian Tetralogy?' by Kieran More (1 volume); 'History and Reason in the Work of Ted Hughes', 'Ted Hughes, le Chaman Lauréat' (published in Études Anglaises, Avril-Juin 1995), 'Transcultural Identities in the Poems of Philippe Jaccottet and Ted Hughes' and 'La Jouissance dans les Poèmes de Ted Hughes' (published in Le corps dans tout ses états) by Joanny Moulin (38ff and 2 volumes); 'The Poet Laureate's National Poet' by Anthony Paul (published in Reclamations of Shakespeare edited by A.J. Hoenselaars) (1f. & 1 volume); 'Ovid Transmogrified' a review of Tales from Ovid by Louis Ryan (3ff.); 'Ted Hughes and the British Bardic Tradition' and a typescript of Ted Hughes The Poetic Quest' by Ann Skea (168ff.) and article about Hughes entitled 'His Mind Moves Upon Silence' written by Joe Winter and published in The Indian Statesman (2ff.). An edition of The Hollins Critic entitled '"And He Shivered with the Horror of Creation": The Poetry of Ted Hughes' (October 1997, 1 volume) and an annotated draft of an introduction written by Egbert Faas (5ff., the piece is dated January 1972, although the title of the book is not given) are also included.
