Title:: Local Government Fortnightly Reports on the Political Situation
Scope & Content:: These reports formed part of the Public and Judicial and Judicial (Separate) records but were not registered in the filing system of the department for the years concerned. They are the reports of local events mainly of a political or economic nature submitted twice-monthly by the Chief Secretaries of the governments of Assam, Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, Bombay, Burma, Central Provinces and Berar, Delhi, Madras, North-West Frontier Province, Punjab and United Provinces, to the Home Political department of the Government of India. This series of reports was begun in 1914 as a result of the outbreak of war and continued subsequent to the Armistice, as the political situation in India made this regular submission of local information highly useful to the central government.
