The volumes contain the original written consents of the vendors and purchasers for the transfer of stock, witnessed by the Accountant General or one of his staff, and giving the stock ledger folio numbers for each party. The volumes are not indexed.
It is clear from entries in the Stock Journals that there were also stock ledgers before 1706, but none have been found.
