- User Conditions:
- Administrative Context:
- Established by an agreement of 6 April 1770 between Lord Clive and the East India Company. Also known as the Military (Late Lord Clive) Fund. Provided pensions for invalided or time-expired European officers and soldiers of the East India Company Army and their widows (children were not eligible). As well as the main Capital Fund a separate Contingent Fund was created which paid pensions to certain categories of people ineligible for the main fund. For an historical account of the early years of the Fund and the administration of the Military Fund Office in East India House, see Home Miscellaneous Series, Vol 302 (H/302, pp.75-77). No new admissions to the Fund were made after c 1885.
