- Formed in 1856. One of the original guaranteed companies. Line opened in 1862/63. Ran south east from Calcutta to Port Canning [Maldah]. Taken over by Government in 1868 and worked by it until 1870. Thereafter worked by the Eastern Bengal Railway (see L/AG/46/10). In 1884 became part of the expanded and reconstituted Eastern Bengal State Railway.
