- One of the original guaranteed companies. Formed in 1857 and incorporated by Act of Parliament 1858. Main line ran from Negapatam to Erode Junction via Tanjore and Trichinopoly. Amalgamated with the Carnatic Railway in 1874 to form the South Indian Railway (see L/AG/46/18) - the Carnatic Railway Company which had been formed in 1869 ran a short stretch of line between Conjeeveram and Arkonam.
