- One of the original guaranteed companies. Formed in 1855 as the Scinde Railway Company and incorporated by Act of Parliament the same year. Original line ran from Karachi to Kotri. Title changed to Scinde, Punjab, Delhi Railway Company in 1870 when it incorporated the Punjab Railway, the Indus Steam Flotilla and the Delhi Railway - this northern section of the S.P.D.R. eventually linked Delhi to Multan via Lahore. In 1886 the Scinde, Punjab, Delhi Railway was acquired by the state and amalgamated with the Indus Valley State Railway (linking Multan to Kotri) and the Punjab Northern State Railway (linking Lahore to Peshawar) to form the North Western State Railway.
