- The North Western State Railway was created in 1886 by the amalgamation of the Scinde-Punjab-Delhi Railway (see IOR/L/AG/46/17), the Indus Valley State Railway and the Punjab Northern State Railway. In 1948 the N.W.R. was divided between India and Pakistan, the Indian section being renamed the Eastern Punjab Railway.
