- Company formed in UK in 1882. The Rohilkund and Kumaon branch proper ran north from Bareilly to Kathgodam, the terminus for the hill stations of Naini Tal, Almora and Ranikhet. The Company also managed the Lucknow-Bareilly State Railway which connected Lucknow to Bareilly via Sitapur and Pilibhit. Some smaller branches. The R.& K.R. came under Government management in 1942.
