Scope & Content:: Notebooks containing ideas, background material (some of these on inserted loose leaves) and preliminary drafts for stories and some of the novels by Lady Antonia Fraser, mostly featuring the television presenter and detective ‘Jemima Shore’. Most of the stories were published in various periodicals and newspapers and some of these were collected in two volumes of short stories, Jemima Shore’s first case, and other stories, published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1986, and Jemima Shore at the sunny grave, and other stories, published by Bloomsbury, 1991. Most of the notebooks contain very short notes and drafts for stories not listed in the lists of contents inside each cover or on the cover, and these are not generally mentioned in the descriptions. Other notebooks, numbered on the spines in roman numerals, are chiefly devoted to notes for and drafts of individual ‘Jemima Shore’ novels and of plays, and are listed in further sub-series.
