Add MS 61427-61431

BLENHEIM PAPERS. Vols. CCCXXVII-CCCXXXI. Correspondence with her husband, John, 1st Duke of Marlborough; [1676?]-1715. Partly imperfect. The Duchess's letters before her marriage (61427, ff. 12-66 passim) are autograph copies in her later hand. At the end (61431, ff. 210-231) are extracts from the Duke's letters, made for the Duchess in old age, with a few of her notes. Most of the letters before 1701 and after 1711 have been printed by Coxe, Wolseley, and Churchill in their biographies of Marlborough. The letters of 1701-1711 are printed in The Marlborough-Godolphin Correspondence, ed. Snyder; with the exception of two fragments of letters of the Duchess, [ 1702-1711 ?] (61427, ff. 134-135), and a complete copy of a letter of the Duke, 11/22 April 1704 (61428, ff. 26-27), of which only the fragmentary original is printed as Snyder No. 285. No. 279, dated [April 1704], has been redated [ 1676-1677] (61427, f. 28). Five volumes.
