TRUMBULL PAPERS. Vols. CXCVIII, CXCIX. G. R. Weckherlin: Miscellaneous personal papers and correspondence, partly relating to his official duties, together with some family letters and literary papers; 1615-1651. Partly copies. Partly Latin, French and German. [Add. 72439 incorporates documents relating to Weckherlin's career, including several petitions and an order dated 4 Feb. 1649/50 for surrender of papers to his successor in the Secretaryship, John Milton. Among the correspondents are Martin Opitz, Ludvig Camerarius, Johannes de Laet, Hermann Mylius, Sir Simonds D'Ewes, John Dury and Matthew Lister. Family papers include his translations of two documents of the Emperor Rudolph II, 1588, while among papers of literary interest are several relating to the Stationers' Company, along with a verse-letter addressed to his wife, 1 Mar. 1627/8, and a draft sonnet, in German, 27 Sept. 1639.] For two further autograph poems in German, jotted on the versos of letters of 1640 and 1642, see above Add. 72431, ff. 91v, 150v; and for miscellaneous verse and prose from his papers see below Add. 72480, ff. .
