Althorp Papers. Vols. dccviii-dccxiii. Letters from Thomas Frognall Dibdin. (1776-1847), 1808-1834. Dibdin first came to Lord Spencer’s attention with the publication of his Introduction to the Knowledge of Rare and Valuable Editions of the Greek and Latin Classics (1802), and was appointed his librarian at Althorp. He also served as vice-president to the Roxburghe Club, founded in 1812. His cataloguing of the rarities of Lord Spencer’s library resulted in Bibliotheca Spenceriana, which made its contents widely known.
