MACKINTOSH PAPERS (3RD SERIES). Vols. XXIII-XXVIII. Drafts for historical works. The History of England, from the Roman Conquest of Britain to the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of Elizabeth was published in D. Lardner, The Cabinet Cyclopædia (1830). Copies are held at 12203.tt.1/10 and G.15418-20. O’Leary (p. 178) suggests that for this work Mackintosh drew on ‘notes intended originally for an introduction to his history of the revolution in England’. See also Mackintosh, Life, vol. ii, p. 456. History of the Revolution in England in 1688 (1834), edited and continued by R. J. Mackintosh, is at 9512.g.16.
