Records of royalty payments made to composers, listed by composer and work with, in most volumes, an index of composers and titles. Details include numbers of copies printed, numbers sold or given away, and prices charged. Names of purchasers of copyrights are included where appropriate. Later annotations often indicate where stock has been either returned to the author, sold to another publisher or destroyed. As a result of the system of entry the dates of most volumes overlap, with the entries for some works continued from one volume to another; dates given for each volume are those of the earliest entry, followed by the approximate date of the latest main entries.
