Early drafts and material for the novel, including final copies, proofs and other papers relating to the publication of 'Albert Angelo'. Originally the novel's working title was 'Samuel Angelo'.
This was Johnson's second novel and had cut outs in the pages, allowing the reader to read lines further along in the book. Johnson drew on his experience of working as a supply teacher for this novel, it also includes some examples of school pupil's essays.
