It contains the register of the population of this Province that lived in the communities and in the "haciendas" (large private states) and continued paying, as in the Colonial Period, a state tax known as the "indigenal contribution", amounting as much as 40% of the state total income. In this territorial jusrisdiction are the following Cantons: Guaicho (Guaycho), Escoma, Carabuco, Ancoraimes, Achacachi (Hachacache), Copacabana, Santiago de Guata (Santiago de Huata), Huarina, Peñas, Pucarani, Aigachi (Aygachi), Llocolloco, Laja, Tiquina, Collocollo, Guata, Villa de la Lealtad, Puerto Perez, Villa Perez, Lambate, Sapahaqui, Araca, Yaco, Caracato, Luribay, San Sebastián, Villa de la Alianza and Zongo. There are also the following ones: Chuma, Camata, Ayata, Luquisani, Tuiluni, Amarete, Curva, Chulina, Charazani, Timusi, Aucapata, Puerto Acosta, Italaque, Mocomoco, Ambaná, Inquisivi, Quime, Capiñata, Cavari, Ichoca, Arcopongo, Escola, Lanza, Caluyo, Colquiri, Charazani, Cajuata, Circuata, Yuri, Sorata, Ilabaya, Combaya, Tacacoma, Conzata, Mapiri, Chi Itulaya, Yani, Chacapa, Liguata, Chuchulaya, Quiabaya, Apolo, Aten, Santa Cruz del Valle Ameno, Pata, Pelechuco and Ulla Ulla belonging to the jurisdictions of the Muñecas, Camacho, Inquisivi, Larecaja and Caupolican Provinces.

It was one of the 7 "parties" of the Department of la Paz when it was created (1825). This Province was created by the Decree of February 9 1825.
