Contains typescript and manuscript draft material by Swift depicting various stages of the novel, with annotations and additions often included, though there are also some unannotated typescripts.

There are 14 full typescript drafts labelled sequentially by Swift in the progress towards completion. This sequence appears as follows: 'E', 'E/G', 'F', 'G' and 'J' (there are 2 'G' and 'J' drafts present, and each is unique), '01', 'A', 'A1', 'A3', 'A8' and 'A9'. There are two full typescripts labelled 'A3', and each of these is unique, with different annotations by Swift.

There are also partial typescripts and chapter re-drafts and revisions marked 'D/E', 'F' 'G', 'J' and 'A2'. There are 3 typescripts marked 'F', 3 marked 'A1'.

There are also manuscript revisions of rewritten chapters and larger and smaller passages, all with annotations by Swift.
