Subject compilations of secret and general correspondence. There were a number of holders of the office of Political Resident in the Persian Gulf during the period in question, but the following Residents: Captain James Felix Jones, Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis Pelly, Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Charles Ross, and Major Adelbert Cecil Talbot, feature most prominently in the records. Correspondents include officials of the India Office, Foreign Office, and the Government of India; officials of the Government of Persia (including correspondence in Persian and Arabic with English translations); Persian Gulf rulers (including correspondence in Arabic with English translations); British/Residency Agents, and other British officials in the Persian Gulf and Middle East; and the Senior Naval Officer, Persian Gulf Division.
