The Books and Publications files of the Political Agency, Bahrain contain two kinds of material:
- files concerning publicity in newspapers and journals about Bahrain and affairs in the wider Persian Gulf, much of it deriving from the Arabic language press and much if it of a sensitive or critical nature, together with the response of the British and the Government of Bahrain to some of that publicity, dated 1934-1939 (IOR/R/15/2/177-178); and
- one file concerning the safe custody and transfer by the Bahrain Political Agency of secret and confidential publications and cyphers and codes, dated 1936-1946 (IOR/R/15/2/179).
