This Sub-sub-series contains files related to the interests and activities of the United States of America in the Gulf. The topics discussed are as follows:

• the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain (IOR/R/15/2/853);
• foreign consular activities, primarily the US' desire for the establishment of a consulate in Bahrain (IOR/R/15/2/854);
• visits of US officials to Bahrain, 1934-1947 (IOR/R/15/2/855);
• US Government reports that the Russian Government had ordered the establishment of a sabotage network in the Middle East to target American oil interests (IOR/R/15/2/856);
• a Foreign Office report on US economic interests in the Middle East (IOR/R/15/2/857).

In all of the files, the bulk of the correspondence is between British officials, but the files also contain correspondence with US officials as well as limited amount with local rulers, some of which is in Arabic. File IOR/R/15/2/853 contains some German correspondence related to the hiring of German-speaking doctors at the American Mission Hospital.
