IOR/R/15/2/1663-1675

There are thirteen surviving files containing correspondence dating mainly from 1914 to 1950, about Celebrations and Ceremonials. Files IOR/R/15/2/1663-1665 contain correspondence regarding the celebrations arranged every year by the Political Agency, Bahrain, for both the King’s Birthday and New Year’s Day. The rest of the files in this series vary in subject, for example, files IOR/R/15/2/1667-1668 are about the deaths of members of the British Royal Family, the British Government establishment, ruling families and presidents of other countries. Files IOR/R/15/2/1666, 1670 and 1674 are about granting titles and new appointments. Files IOR/R/15/2/1669, 1671-1673 and 1675 contain correspondence regarding invitations to receptions and entertainments taking place at the Bahrain Agency. These were held for several occasions including Armistice Day and The King’s Silver Jubilee.

The majority of the correspondence is between the Political Agency in Bahrain, the Political Residency in the Persian Gulf, Bushire, and the Ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Hamad Bin ‘Isa al-Khalifa.
