- There are 3 surviving files of ‘File 8 Al Sabah Family’. These are files 8/1, VIII/3, and VIII/6, and they contain correspondence dating mainly from 1904 till 1945. The files contain correspondence related mainly to the ruling family in Kuwait, including reports on the political and social situation in Kuwait and news of the Al-Sabah family deaths, successions, marriages and illnesses, including details of the death of (Shaikh Jābir II al-Mubārak Āl Ṣabāḥ) and the succession of his brother (Shaikh Sālim bin Mubārak Āl Ṣabāḥ). The files also contain news of Shaikh Mubarak’s coalition with Shaikh Khaz‘al against certain tribes in the region, and reports about Shaikh Mubarak’s dispute with the pearl merchants in Kuwait. The files include news extracts from the Bahrain and Kuwait News, and a number of pedigrees of the Al-Sabah family. The majority of the correspondence is between the Political Agency, Kuwait, the Political Residency, Bushire, and the Ruler of Kuwait.
