- The Trade Reports sub-sub-series is concerned almost entirely with the preparation and submission of trade reports for Kuwait. IOR/R/15/5/72-74 and IOR/R/15/5/77 largely consist of submitted annual trade reports and related correspondence between the Political Agent at Kuwait and the Persian Gulf Political Residency, Bushire. IOR/R/15/5/75 and IOR/R/15/5/76 consist of trade statistics for 1921-1922 and 1920-1921 respectively (the latter being almost entirely in Arabic). IOR/R/15/5/79 contains a selection of trade reports for Bahrain and Muscat. The penultimate file in the sub-sub-series, IOR/R/15/5/78, has been missing since February 2016 and so does not have an enhanced catalogue description.

The Trade Reports files are arranged by file and part number, by which, for example, the reference 27/12 III is composed of the subject reference 27 (Trade Reports), the file number 12 and the part number III.
The confused numbering of the files containing the Kuwait Trade Reports appears to be the fault of the filing clerk, compounded by the binder of the files. The first file in the series might be assumed to be 27/1 (IOR/R/15/5/73), but 27/12 (IOR/R/15/5/72) pre-dates this, and is proved to be its direct predecessor by the Political Agent's note at the beginning of 27/1; it was originally numbered 27/1 and later re-numbered 27/12 to agree with subsequent files which, following the post-1918 usage, were numbered as separate volumes with the same number. It seems likely that all papers about Trade Reports were bound up in a set of five volumes at a later date regardless of their numbering.
