This sub-sub series is comprised of papers relating to British involvement in managing the relations between the Ruler of Kuwait [Shaikh Aḥmad al-Jābir Āl Ṣabāḥ] and the Ruler of Najd [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] – commonly referred to as Ibn Saud.
Subjects covered include: the Saudi blockade on Kuwait trade, and long-running negotiations to lift the blockade, mediated by British officials (IOR/R/15/5/94-99); visits by British officers to Najd including Harry St John Bridger Philby (IOR/R/15/5/103); Colonel Robert Edward Hamilton (IOR/R/15/5/104); Sir Gilbert Clayton's mission (IOR/R/15/5/106); and Captain Gerald De Gaury's intelligence gathering against the Akhwan (IOR/R/15/5/107). Also widely discussed is the demarcation of the Saudi-Iraqi and Saudi-Kuwait frontiers as well as Ibn Saud’s request to the British Government for military and financial advisers. IOR/R/15/5/108 is marked as missing.
