Subject File I is comprised of papers relating to British involvement in relations between Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (spelt Saudiyeh in some files; referred to as the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd prior to 1932), and Britain’s relations with the King of Saudi Arabia, ‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd (commonly referred to as Ibn Saud), and the King’s relations with the Ruler of Kuwait (Shaikh Aḥmad al-Jābir Āl Ṣabāḥ).

Subjects covered include:

The Saudi blockade on Kuwait trade, and long-running negotiations to lift the blockade, mediated by British officials (IOR/R/15/5/109-115).
Reports of the abduction and murder of members of the ’Ajmān and Muṭayr tribes (IOR/R/15/5/117).
The Saudi Government’s introduction of prohibitory regulations on firearms (IOR/R/15/5/118).
