The sub-sub-series ‘File 1 Arms Traffic’ consists of one volume (1/1), and one file (also 1/1). The correspondence in this sub-sub-series is related to arms trafficking in Oman mainly in Muscat, Sur, Sohar, Dubai, Khor Fakkan, Masirah, Suwaiq, Sharjah, and the Batinah coastal towns. Among the main issues covered in the correspondence are the following: the recovery of boxes of small arms ammunition from shallow water off Ras al-Hadd in Oman; the export of arms from Mukalla, in Yemen; the seizure of arms by the Muscat Government; the Baluch in Oman smuggling arms from Dubai to Persia; the good relations between the Baluch of the Batinah coastal towns in Oman and the Baluch of Mekran [Makran] in the Persian Gulf; reports sent from the collector of customs in certain regions in Oman; the International Arms Convention of 1919; and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muscat issuing a public announcement regarding arms trafficking.
