The sub-sub-series 'Political' contains correspondence and papers related to political matters in the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman and the surrounding region. Political here is defined broadly and as such as the sub-sub-series' contents is diverse in nature. Subjects covered include:

The majority of the correspondence in this sub-sub-series is between British officials and so is in English. However, individual files contain some papers in Arabic and the files IOR/R/15/6/372-374 contain a small number of papers in Urdu, Sindhi and Gujarati.
