Letters from Annie Emily Lee, née Light, Lee's mother, to Lee. These are often on unmatched scraps of paper, sometimes inserted several letters at a time in their envelopes. The arrangement of the leaves taken from each envelope has generally been preserved, as many do not indicate their order within a letter.The envelopes have been retained as they indicate Lee's address at the time of writing and provide dates for undated letters. Not all letters are complete and some envelopes did not contain letters.
