HARDWICKE PAPERS. Vols. CCCLIII.-CCCLVIII. "Private and confidential" correspondence of Philip Yorke, 3rd Earl of Hardwicke, when Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (17 Mar. 1801-30 Mar. 1806), with his brother the Hon. Charles Philip Yorke, Secretary at War (Feb. 1801-Aug. 1803) and Secretary of State for Home Affairs (Aug. 1803-May, 1804); 1801-1806. The letters relate, in the main, to the civil and military government of Ireland, but they also discuss the general policy of the Home Government, the war with France (1803, etc.), the changes in the Government, and the relations between Addington and Pitt, leading up to the former's resignation and the formation of the Pitt ministry in May, 1804, in which, though Lord Hardwicke remained Lord Lieutenant, his brother held no office. Six volumes. Paper. Folio.
