HARDWICKE PAPERS. Vols. DCXL.-DCXLVI. Law Reports, chiefly King's Bench, collected by Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke, East. 9 Anne (1710)-Trin. 9 Geo. I. (1723). -Most of the first three volumes are his own reports in his own hand. Seven volumes. In Vol. III. f. 143 b, is the note "Mem. That about this time [Hil. 2 Geo. I.] I began to be engag'd in business, and the cases which follow in this and the subsequent volumes were copied from the MS. Reports of Mr Strange, afterwards Sir John Strange, Knight, first Sollicitor-General to King George the 2nd and then Master of the Rolls." Each volume has an index of cases. At the end of the last volume is a miscellaneous series of transcripts of judgments, etc., relating to cases from 1669 to 1746. Paper. XVIIIth cent. 10 X 8 in. (except Vol. VII., 13 X 8 in.).
