- Contains mainly typewritten and autograph poetry drafts with autograph annotations and corrections. Some of the poems can be found in other collections including Howls and Whispers and Capriccio, whilst others are unpublished. Also includes correspondence with Faber and Faber publishers relating to the serialisation of some of Birthday Letters poems in The Times, a request from BBC2 to make a documentary about Hughes and Sylvia Plath, and a list of names and addresses of individuals whom Hughes wished the publishers to send copies of Birthday Letters to. A note from Keith Sagar and another written by Carol Hughes are also included though it is not clear whether they have any connection with the rest of the material in the file.
