- A journal first published 30 Mar 1850. It was part owned by editor Charles Dickens, sub-editor William Henry Wills and publishers Bradbury and Evans. Items relate to Dickens's attempt to dissolve this partnership after a dispute with Bradbury and Evans. A bill of complaint against Dickens was filed at the Court of Chancery by the publishers and the case was heard on 26 March 1859. John Romilly, the Master of the Rolls at the Court of Chancery, found in favour of Dickens and ordered all partnership property should be sold, including the rights to the title 'Household Words', and the proceeds divided between the partners. On 28 April 1859 an order for the sale of the partnership property was issued and on 16 May 1859 an auction was held. Dickens succeeded in purchasing the remaining stock and copyright of the publication.
