(1) Letter (manuscript, 1 August, 1946) from Bernard [first name], a contemporary of Tambimuttu, who has recently met (Major) Anthony Dickins when he was stationed in Sri Lanka.
(2) Brief copy letter (21 January, 1948) to Ralph Deranayagala, of Colombo, referring to John Strachey.
(3) Letter (manuscript, 12 December, 1945) from J M G Fernando, Principal, Government Central School, Minuwangoda, requesting assistance to register for MA (Education) at the University of London. With a copy letter (1 January, 1946) from Tambimuttu to the Registrar, University of London.
(4) Letter (manuscript, 22 January, 1948) from Ranjit Fernando, artist, of Panadura, advising that he is travelling to England with his parents. Letter includes reference to the Indian magazine Marg and to the '43 Group'. With reply (14 April) from Tambimuttu.
(5) Airletter (manuscript, 29 February, 1948) from Shelley P L Misso, of Colombo, a contemporary from St Joseph's College, seeking assistance in finding employment in England.
(6) Envelope addressed but not posted to Hon Mr G G Ponnambalam, Ceylon State Council, Colombo, containing an information sheet ([1939], one-fold grey card) promoting to potential subscribers the magazine Poetry (the short-lived original name for Poetry London).
(7) Letter (typescript, 29 August, 1944) from Rev Fr S Gnana Prakasar (uncle to Tambimuttu): 'Your idea of reviving your grandfather's business is excellent ... Your idea of having our Lexicon published in England also is again excellent'. With a newspaper cutting reporting his death [1947], a photograph (b/w), and a memorial card with a further portrait.
(8) Second sheet only of a two-sheet letter from S Ratnanather, Managing Director, General Publishers Ltd, Colombo, referring to positions 'for your brothers' and to rebuilding the printing facility at Atchuvaly.
(9) Three letters concering A Subramaniam: letter (28 March, 1947) from the Committee of Atlantic Awards in Literature regarding Subramaniam's application for an Award; letter (1 January, 1948) from Lawson and Dunn (Publishers) Ltd, advising Tambimuttu of publication date for Subramaniam, The Tamarind Tree; and copy letter (8 March, 1948) from Tambimuttu to Subramaniam's father, in Jaffna, advising on his son's progress in England.
(10) Two letters (manuscript) from Augustine [Tambimuttu], brother, dated 8 August, 1944, and 7 March, 1946. The latter letter refers to money being sought: 'They [family in Jaffna] are opposed to it as they first wish me to go to England. The money would be required for my studies there'.
(11) Letter (3 August, 1945) to The Rev Francis O Tambimuttu, brother: 'My own plans for a publishing house in Ceylon have not yet matured but as soon as Thurainayagam [Tambimuttu] comes to London I will, perhaps, be able to proceed further'.
(12) Letter (manuscript, 23 January, 1946) from Paulinus Tambimuttu to Thurainayah [Thurainayagam?] Tambimuttu, enclosing a list (typescript) of works to be translated from the Tamil supplied by V Kandiah. The letter also refers to investment money being already reserved 'to build my post-war home', but Josephine [sister] 'is prepared to invest Rs 10,000/- in the business in her name'.
(13) Three copy letters to Thurainayagam Tambimuttu, dated 30 July and 30 July, 1945, and 21 January, 1946. The first letter confirms that Tambimuttu would like his brother 'to come over immediately to take charge of the business side of PL' whilst Tambimuttu returns 'to Ceylon for a holiday', and the third letter mentions sending 'an article or a poem for the college annual for the Golden Jubilee number'. (14) A prospectus ('First Draft') for S Tambimuttu & Sons Publishers, listing projected publishing plans and staffing (M J Tambimuttu is listed as 'Adviser'), and including a small sketch in pencil indicating location.
(15) Fredoon Kabraji, 'Our Book-News Dispatch From London' - two pages taken from a Sri Lankan publication (8 May, [1945]) which reviews Poetry London, 2:10 (1944).
(16) A photograph (b/w, 140 x 85mm) of a pilot; on the verso, a date ('8 Jan 1942') and the address of Regal Studios, London, are stamped, and 'Clarence S Merera / Ceylon' is written.
