- (1) pp. 1-720, Translations (by G. F. Cherry, Dy. Persian Translator) of Addresses in favour of Warren Hastings from native Inhabitants of the Presidency of Bengal, including Nos. (2)-(4) below. (2) pp. 1-5, George Nesbitt Thompson (one of Hastings' Attorneys) to Earl Cornwallis 27th March 1788. Owing to refusal of Jonathan Duncan, Resident at Benares, to forward to the Governor-General for transmission to England an Address in favour of Warren Hastings, requests permission to forward this and similar addresses himself and that all Judges, Collectors and Residents may be instructed to send to him any addresses tendered to them. It was Jonathan Duncan who, when Governor of Bombay, by forbidding the Company's cruisers to fire first upon suspected Arab pirates, caused some of them to be captured by these pirates. (3) pp. 21-4, Order passed in Council 31st March 1788 that any such addresses tendered to Judges, Collectors and Residents may be forwarded to Edward Hay, Secretary to the Council. (4) pp. 691-705, Lists of Papers forwarded to Hastings and Addresses.
