Wilson, dated 8th Dec. 1902; pp. 1-567, Papers extracted from the Bengal and Madras Consultations by the late Sir George Forrest and printed by the Record Department of the Government of India, Calcutta. They were ostensibly collected for the preparation of a life of Robert Clive, but, as indicated below, see (2)-(28), contain a large quantity of other interesting matter. (4) p. 50, Admiral Hyde Parker to Bengal Council 18th Aug. 1748, refusing to give up volunteers or "to deny the protection of His Majesty's colours to those who complain of the injurious treatment of their officers." There are numerous cross-complaints recorded of Company's soldiers running off to enlist in the Navy and of sailors from the Navy deserting to enlist in the Company's battalion.
