- Notebook, used by Burton as his letter book for the East African expeditions, containing autograph drafts and copies of 38 letters and memoranda from him to the Royal Geographical Society, East India Company, and various officials, with letters addressed to Burton, and other documents, bills, printed press cuttings, etc., relating to the expeditions, copied directly or pasted into the pages of the notebook. Including several documents in Arabic, and six leaves which have been torn out, leaving some text in Burton's hand on the stubs. The last leaf contains an address list.
