Correspondence and papers relating to the award of medals and honours to officers and men of the Indian Army during the Second World War. The papers include information on the award of the following medals and honours:
- Victoria Cross
- George Cross
- Military Cross
- Distinguished Service Order
- Indian Distinguished Service Medal
- Indian Order of Merit
The file contains a booklet titled "Officers & Men of the Indian Army who have been awarded the Victoria Cross for valour in the field" issued by the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate, India Command (1945). The booklet contains information on the award of the Victoria Cross during the Second World War, and includes a photograph of each recipient and a description of the action for which they received the award.
The file also includes Press notes on the New Year's Day Honours List for 1944, and awards approved in connection with the operations in Burma and on the eastern front of India from 21st May 1942 to 20th June 1943.
