  • text of a discussion that took place on 28th July 1936, at the Home Office, between a Deputation from the “Welfare Committee of Africans in Europe and Various Other Societies in the Ports of Great Britain” and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Home Office)
  • copy of a letter, dated 20th February, 1936, on behalf of the Committee of the Welfare of Africans in Europe, on the subject of problems experienced in the UK by West Indian Negros, Negro seamen and by “half-castes,” and their children
  • Report entitled “Refusal of passports to illiterate Indians desirous of coming to the United Kingdom for employment” (September 1936)
  • Minutes of an interdepartmental Conference, held at the Home Office on 2nd December 1936, to consider matters relating to the welfare of coloured persons in the United Kingdom and a draft Questionnaire to be issued for the purpose of an enquiry (outlined in the minutes) which the Conference decided to institute
  • Parliamentary questions and replies on subjects relating to the position of coloured seamen in British ports
