- User Conditions:
- Physical Characteristics:
-
Foliation: The foliation sequence commences at forth folio of content and terminates at the last folio of content; these numbers are written in pencil, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
Pagination: The volume also contains a pagination sequence between ff 1-121; these numbers are also written in pencil and ink, and are located around the top of each page.
Condition: The volume has suffered a significant amount of pest damage, though mainly to the edges of folios. However, this does mean that in some places text can be difficult to read. Furthermore, some of the ink has been washed out in places as a result of previous paper conservation treatment at the Foreign Office; any text affected by this is significantly fainter.
- Arrangement:
- The correspondence is arranged chronologically from 1 January 1817 to 31 December 1818. However, some letters are slightly out of chronological order; letters dated July 1818 are especially disorganised.
