This file contains miscellaneous correspondence relating to Qatar from 1903 to 1934. It includes:
- Folios 2-4: 'No. 238 of 1903' from John Calcott Gaskin, British Assistant Political Agent at Bahrain [also written in the file as Bahrein], to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bushire, dated 7 November 1903, regarding the disclosures of Shaikh Abdul Rahman bin Salama [‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Salāmah], a resident of Hofuf, concerning the state of affairs in Arabia and the attitude of the Arabs towards the Turks in which he states that 'as regards Katr [Qatar] it was under Shaikh Jassim bin Thani [Jāsim bin Muḥammad Āl Thānī] and his brother'
- Folios 5-7: 'No. 116 of 1904' from John Calcott Gaskin, British Assistant Political Agent at Bahrain, to the Political Resient in the Persian Gulf at Bushire, dated 7 May 1904, regarding a request for British protection from Mohamed bin Jaber [Muḥammad bin Jābir] the headman of the Montifik [al-Muntafiq] Arabs who visited Gaskin while visiting various shaikhs, including the shaikhs of Bahrain, Katr, and Koweit [Shaikh ‘Īsá bin ‘Alī Āl Khalīfah, Shaikh Jāsim bin Muḥammad Āl Thānī and Shaikh Mubārak bin Ṣabāḥ Āl Ṣabāḥ respectively]
- Folios 8-15: 'D.O. No. 141 of 1908' from Captain Francis Beville Prideaux, Political Agent at Bahrain, to Major Percy Zachariah Cox, Political Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bushire, dated 9 March 1908, regarding the desire for British protection of the Shaikh of the Sudan [Āl Sūdān] tribe, Sultan bin Nasir [Sulṭān bin Nāṣir], with enclosed extracts of the Diary of the Bahrain Political Agency for the week ending 12 October 1906, translations of letters from Shaikh Esa bin Ali Al Khalifa of Bahrain [Shaikh ‘Īsá bin ‘Alī Āl Khalīfah] to Prideaux and from Shaikh Sultan to the Shaikh of Bahrain, dated 18 October 1907, and a copy of a minute by Cox, dated 5 January 1908
- Folios 17-20: 'No. 132' from Lieutenant-Colonel Percy Gordon Loch, Political Agent at Bahrain, to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, dated 24 January 1934, regarding the entry of British subjects into Qatar, with enclosed correspondence between Shaikh Abdullah bin Qasim al Thani of Qatar [Shaikh ‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī] and Loch concerning the case of a British Indian subject, Maharaj Bhojanmal Matanoomal.
