The file relates to Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al Khalifah (also referred to as Ali bin Ahmad), nephew of the Ruler of Bahrain, Sheikh Esa bin Ali Al Khalifa [Sheikh ‘Īsá bin ‘Alī Āl Khalīfah]. - subsequent reports and correspondence about Sheikh Ali, including note of his death, September 1912 - January 1917.
The date of the first original piece of correspondence in the file is 22 August 1905. The file also contains copies of correspondence printed by the Government of India dating from 20 May 1905.

- Administrative Context:
- Sheikh Ali bin Ahmad Al Khalifah, nephew of the Ruler of Bahrain (Sheikh ‘Īsá bin ‘Alī Āl Khalīfah) and governor of Manama, was exiled from Bahrain in 1905. His removal followed complaints by the British that he had failed to punish people who had been accused of committing outrages against foreigners in the island, which resulted in military intervention on the part of the Royal Navy. His removal foreshadowed the imposition of tighter British control over Manama and Bahrain in the years after 1919.
