- Scope & Content:
- This file contains correspondence between the British Political Agent at Bahrain and the British Political Resident at Bushire, as well as with John Gordon Lorimer and Arnold Talbot Wilson. These correspondence concern Turkish pan-Islamist and anti-British propaganda and activities in Iraq, the Arabian Peninsula and India between 1906 and 1916. These correspondence include:
- 'Criminal Intelligence Circular Memorandum No: 3852' dated 9 August 1906 from H.A. Stewart, Director of Criminal Intelligence to J.H. Hill, First Assistant to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Bushire, regarding pan-Islamic propagandist sent from Turkey and Egypt to India and Afghanistan in June 1906;
- A handwritten memorandum from Francis Beville Prideaux, dated 4 December 1906, providing information on pan-Islamic activity within the Persian Gulf as requested by John Gordon Lorimer, Foreign Department, Government of India, Simla;
- An item of news from John Gordon Lorimer, now Political Resident in Turkish Arabia and the British Consul-General, Baghdad, regarding pan-Islamist propagandist Ziyah Bey, dated 13 April 1911;
- Correpondence report No. 1059, dated 23 April 1911, from Percy Zachariah Cox to Henry McMahon regarding anti-British articles in Arabic newspapers El Basrael Feyha and Zubur;
- Correspondence report No. P.-4851, dated 23 November and 30 November 1916 from F.A. Hirtzel, Secretary, Political Department, India Office London, to the Foreign Secretary to the Government of India, regarding the policy of the Turkish Committee of Union and Progress (İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti).
