The file contains papers relating to Bin Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] (also referred to Ibn Sa'ud), Sultan of Najd (also referred to as Nejd), particularly in relation to frontier disputes with Kuwait and Iraq.
The file contains correspondence between the Political Agent, Bahrain [also spelled Bahrein]; the Political Agent, Kuwait (also spelled Kowait); the High Commissioner for Iraq (Major-General Sir Percy Zachariah Cox); Bin Saud; the Senior Naval Officer, Persian Gulf; the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf; and the Government of India.
The papers include details of frontier clashes, 1921-22; references to the blockade/siege of Hail [Ḥā’il], 1921; references to political relations between Bin Saud and King Husain [Ḥusayn bin ‘Alī al-Hāshimī] of the Hedjaz [Hejaz/al-Ḥijāz], Bin Rashid [Ibn Rashīd], and King Faisal of Iraq, 1921-22; correspondence relating to the alleged spread of 'Akhwan' [Ikhwān] tenets in the town of Ajman, July 1921 (folios 208-212); correspondence concerning political relations between Bin Saud and Iraq, including British attempts at mediation in the dispute, March 1922 (folios 110-112); correspondence concerning the refusal by Kuwait of a request by Bin Saud to be allowed to collect customs dues in Kuwait, as this would be equivalent to the recognition of Bin Saud's overlordship over Kuwait, April 1922 (folio 54); and report of remarks by Bin Saud concerning the clauses of a proposed treaty with the Government of Iraq, June 1922 (folios 13-15).
The Arabic content of the file consists of letters from Bin Saud (with English translations).
The main date range of the file is 23 April 1921 - 5 June 1922. The closing date of the overall date range is supplied by a single document dated 6 October 1928.
