The file relates to Bin Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] (also referred to Ibn Sa'ud), Sultan of Najd (also referred to as Nejd), particularly relations between Najd (also referred to as the Akhwan [Ikhwān]) and neighbouring states.
The file contains correspondence between the Political Agent, Bahrain [also spelled Bahrein]; the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf; the High Commissioner for Iraq; the Political Agent, Kuwait (also referred to Koweit) and Bin Saud.
Discussion of the issue by Najd of passports figures prominently in the file, and there is an example of a blank passport of the 'Sultanate of Nedj and Dependencies' on folio 146. The correspondence also covers relations between Nadj and Iraq, Hedjaz [Hejaz/al-Ḥijāz], Kuwait, and Trans-Jordania [Transjordania]; frontier demarcation; tribes; details of border conflict; pilgrims; customs dues; correspondence relating to attempts by Bin Saud to 'absorb' the principality of Qatar as part of a proposed oil concession, January - February 1923 (folios 191-193) and report of events in Qatar, April 1923 (folios 154-155); relations between Abu Dhabi and Bin Saud, March 1923 (folios 161-162); papers relating to a robbery committed against Najdis in Egypt, December 1922 - February 1923 (folios 134-136); and papers relating to a reported massacre near Mecca of pilgrims from Yemen by the Akhwan, July - September 1923 (especially folios 113-116 and 86-88);
The Arabic content of the file consists of correspondence to and from Bin Saud (mostly with English translations).
