The file contains correspondence on miscellaneous political and administrative subjects.
The correspondence is mostly between the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf and the Political Agent, Bahrain (occasionally spelled Bahrein); however, enclosures to correspondence from the Political Residency also include correspondence between the Residency and the High Commissioner for Iraq, the Government of India, the British Government, and other British officials in the region.
The correspondence covers a diverse range of topics, including:
- Bahrain Political Agency report, 7 May 1921 (ff 10-14);
- the import of percussion caps to Bahrain, May - July 1922 (ff 43-58);
- the likely reaction in Bahrain to propaganda issued by the 'Palestine Delegation to the Hejaz against the British Mandate in Palestine', December 1922 (ff 64-69);
- Bahrain aerodrome, September 1923 (ff 75-80) and December 1923 (ff 87-89);
- entry of Germans into Bahrain and other Arab states, May 1924 (ff 91-96), June 1925 (ff 114-116), February 1926 (ff 152-153), and April 1926 (f 160);
- disposal of Qais [Kish] Island by the Persian Government, July - September 1924 (ff 97-100);
- measures to restrict entry of undesirable foreigners into Bahrain, August - September 1925, including memorial from the Bahrein public to the Secretary and members of the Municipality (in Arabic with translation into English) (ff 117-125);
- Persian military deserters in Bahrain, October 1925 (ff 126-128) and June 1926 (ff 190-192);
- letter from the Political Agent, Bahrain (Major Clive Kirkpatrick Daly) to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf concerning the Shaikh of Qatar [‘Abdullāh bin Jāsim Āl Thānī], 12 December 1925 (f 138);
- proposed airship expedition across the Arabian desert, February 1926 (ff 155-157), April 1926 (f 162), and June 1926 (ff 163-164);
- Political Residency report on Wahabi [Wahhabi] activities in the Persian Gulf, April - May 1927 (ff 213-221);
- report by the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant-Colonel Lionel Berkeley Holt Haworth, on conditions on the Trucial Coast and its dependencies, December 1927 (ff 228-242);
- Turkish ex-prisoners of war in Bahrain, March 1928 (ff 249-252) and June 1928 (ff 255-257).
The Arabic content of the file consists of the memorial from the Bahrein public to the Secretary and Members of the Municipality on ff 122-123, and a few other items of correspondence on ff 95 and 223-227.
While the main date range of the correspondence is April 1921 - June 1928, the enclosure entitled 'Notes on Kermanshah Affairs, May 1921' (ff 20-24) is dated March 1921.

A previous foliation sequence, which is also written in pencil and circled, has been superseded and therefore crossed out. An additional foliation sequence is also present in parallel between ff 7-97; these numbers are written in blue crayon, are circled, and can be found in the same position as the main sequence.
