The file concerns intercommunal and religious rioting in Bahrain between Persians and Najdis (also referred to as Nejdis), which resulted in the deaths of a number of people.
The file contains correspondence between the Political Resident, Bahrain (Major Clive Kirkpatrick Daly) and the (acting) Political Resident in the Persian Gulf (Lieutenant-Colonel Stuart George Knox). The file also contains correspondence from Shaikh Easa [Shaikh ‘Īsá bin ‘Alī Āl Khalīfah], Ruler of Bahrain.
The papers include report by the Political Agent (folios 8-12) and eyewitness statements (folios 13-17) concerning the disturbances; a report of injuries received (folios 20-25); petitions relating to the riots (folios 27-28); a report to the Government of India by the Political Resident concerning Bahrain reforms, May 1923 (folios 33-79); correspondence between Abdol Aziz ben Abdor Rahman Al Faisal As Saud, Sultan of Nejd [Najd] [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] (also referred to as Bin Saud) and the Political Resident, May 1923; and correspondence concerning negotiations between the Political Resident and the Sultan's envoy, June 1923.
The Arabic and Persian content of the file comprises fewer than twenty folios of correspondence and petitions.
