This file contains a letter between Cyril Charles Barrett, British Political Agent at Bahrain, and Charles Geoffrey Prior, Secretary to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf at Bushire, as well as a 14-page confidential report.
These papers concern the personality of Shaikh ‘Alī bin Shaikh Muḥammad, the Agency interpreter, and a series of charges against him for accepting sums of money from Bahraini peasants so as to facilitate their acquisition of farm land and property sequestered by the State from the Āl Dawāsir tribe and from Shaikh Khālid in the early 1920s.
