The file comprises correspondence relating to the use by the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) and Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) of the United States Army Post Office in Bahrain to send mail and parcels to the United States and Canada.
The correspondence discusses permission the existing postal services from Bahrain to the USA through the Indian Postal Service, and the high costs and frequent delays which the service was afflicted by, and attempts to improve the service following the closure of the US Army Post Office at Bahrain in September 1945.
The correspondence is primarily between the Political Agent at Bahrain (Tom Hickinbotham, Cornelius James Pelly, Arnold Crawshaw Galloway), Political Resident in the Persian Gulf (Charles Geoffrey Prior, William Rupert Hay) and Secretary to the External Affairs Department of the Government of India (Olaf Kirkpatrick Caroe).
A series of file notes which were maintained as a record of the correspondence in the volume can be found at folios 49-54.
